I have a strange tendency to get nostalgic about things that happened before I was even born. I often adopt the styles of eras past, eras where I think I would have belonged. Or, sometimes I’ll look at photos of my parents and grandparents in their youth and try to imagine what it would have been like to be there, at that time, with those values and world events and that outdated technology. Particularly the 1970s– when my mother was “in her prime.” I’ll see photos of her: perfect smile and feathered hair, cotton wrap dress and wooden heels, beautiful skin and a ton of girlfriends who all look like replicas of Farrah Fawcett. Turns out, she used to have some kitchen canisters that look exactly like these ones, from Orla Kiely’s Pear Collection– so when I stumbled on them, I got the same inexplicable rush of sentimentality. Of course, that might just be because I’m emo like that. But regardless, they’re adorable, yes?
