Bees are nature’s original mathematicians, and taking the hint from them on maximizing space seems like a brilliant plan. Honeycombs are basically just a myriad of hexagonal compartments stacked together. Hexagons are also known as “tessellating” shapes, which means that when stacked, these types of shapes allow for the most “cells” to be packed into the smallest amount of space. (See?
