Designer spas in Japan, China, South Korea and Turkey are crazy about this thing called a Fish Spa treatment. Apparently, you immerse your body in a pool of water and thousands of tiny, toothless fish called Garra Ruffa come up and start nibbling away at your dead skin.
Sounds kind of cool, doesn’t it?
Some people claim the fish, which are part of the Carp family and bred in Turkey, can cure skin diseases like eczema and psoriasis, while others just find it a pleasant and natural way to shake off some unnecessary weight or get rid of a few calluses.
As of today, Yvonne Hair and Nails Salon in Virginia is the only U.S. location I can find that offers this service (at $35.00 for 15 minutes or $50.00 for half an hour) and it’s currently only available as part of an extreme pedicure, but knowing America, (more specifically, knowing Los Angeles) these fishy spas are going to start popping up and spreading like wild fire any day now. Keep an eye out!
